Digital Transformation Information Reengineering
Taiwan High Speed Rail joins Delta Electronics and SYSCOM Computer
Working together to create a new generation of passenger information systems

[2019/2/14] Taiwan High Speed Rail, Delta Electronics, and SYSCOM Computer jointly held a press conference and signing ceremony on the afternoon of February 14 to announce the new high-speed rail passenger information system. At the meeting, "Welcome to your New Journey," Taiwan High Speed Rail also announced their partner selection of industry leaders Delta Electronics and SYSCOM Computer, who will work together to digitally transform the Passenger Information System (PIS). The project primarily responds to the government's "rail industry localization policy." Taiwan High Speed Rail is expected to replace the more than ten year old passenger information system, its hardware and software, with new technologies like the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence and others. In view of the future operational needs of the high-speed rail, besides providing passenger information services and visual station management, video integration services are the most critical component. Delta's superior terminal display product and integration planning capabilities, coupled with SYSCOM's software integration development professionals will create innovative and highly connected application services for Taiwan High Speed Rail and its passengers. Attending the signing ceremony were Jiang Yaozong, Chairman of Taiwan High Speed Rail, Hai Yingjun, Chairman of Delta Electronics, and Liu Ruilong, President of SYSCOM Computer.

In recent years, Delta has installed their video integration solution in baseball stadiums in Taipei, New Taipei City, Taoyuan, Kaohsiung and Hualien. They also installed their integrated applications such as Kaohsiung's Yida Shopping Center and the Zhongshan Research Institute's National Science and Technology Exhibition Center. In the transportation field, Delta's technology is powering video monitoring at Taichung's Mass Rail Transit Operation Control Center. SYSCOM Computer has developed large-scale transportation systems like the eTag toll collection, Taipei Transit Station, Tonglian Passenger Transport and Taiwan Railway Bureau. For the new Taiwan High Speed Rail project, Delta is responsible for hardware and software facilities which will use low-energy, high-resolution large-scale LED display and borderless LCD screens, with SYSCOM Computer providing professional software development and system integration services. Taiwan High Speed Rail control center, station passenger information, platform passenger information and other information systems are interconnected. Database management, visual management, certification and authorization, system monitoring and integration, and integration of core systems will also be connected. The contract's first and second phases include new train information boards with improved software and hardware, and integrated applications providing smarter and friendlier passenger services, at ticket booths, public spaces, passenger guide signs, and platforms throughout the original eight stations (Taipei, Banqiao, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung).

Jiang Yaozong, chairman of Taiwan High Speed Rail, said, "Taiwan High Speed Rail Company cooperates with the government's policy of developing our local rail industry using local businesses and actively cooperates with domestic companies. Thank you very much for the cooperation of the three parties, and I believe that the combination of Delta Electronics and SYSCOM Computer's software and hardware innovation and service will create a more advanced and diversified high-speed rail passenger information system, providing passengers with a new journey — combining AI, Internet of Things, and big data technologies. In the future, Taiwan High Speed Rail will continue apply innovative technologies to provide our passengers with full ranging travel information, thoughtful customer services, better passenger experience, and making Taiwan's high-speed rail a better transportation platform."

Hai Yingjun, Chairman of Delta Electronics said, "Thanks to Taiwan High-Speed Rail for their recognition of Delta. In addition to our core capabilities in power and energy management solutions, Delta has been leading the industry with our long time work on video integration solutions. We were the first to introduce a 25,000 high-lumen projector with a resolution up to 8K. Our projectors have been integrated with many large-scale displays and are widely used in many sectors including traffic and security monitoring, large-scale exhibitions, sports venues at home and abroad. Our power management system reduces power consumption making our video equipment environmentally friendly. These and other successes at home and abroad are why Delta has been in "Taiwan's Top 20 International Brands" for eight consecutive years and our brand value has been improving year by year."

In 2018, Taiwan High-Speed Rail had an average daily passenger volume of 175,000. Faced with this tremendous volume, our biggest challenge was seamlessly switching from the existing system to the new system while minimizing passenger inconvenience. SYSCOM Computer holds many international certifications including CMMI/ISO27001/ISO20000/BS10012 and are related to evaluating and certifying software quality, information security, personal protection, and information services. SYSCOM's software development capability has been recognized by international customers in Japan and was awarded the 'Excellence in the Enterprise Award' and the '2018 National Quality Award - Manufacturing Quality Model Award' by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs. In government applications, such as the National Space Program Office's Satellite Ground Control System or the National Police Agency's Police Cloud, SYSCOM has earned high praise. Responding to Taiwan High-Speed Rail's need for upgraded digital systems, Liu Ruilong, President of SYSCOM Computer, pointed out that "the primary purpose of this digital upgrade is to combine information from various sources to create expanded and comprehensive applications for the company and its customers, so that everyone can enjoy convenience and other benefits created by this new digital integration. SYSCOM focuses on software quality and innovation. Three years ago we began AI research and development with various forward-looking application services. These efforts have helped us launch the first intelligent mobile robot made in Taiwan. SYSCOM Computer specializes in systems integration and in recent years we have helped large enterprise customers move application systems to cloud and AI-based platforms. We have become the driving force in digital transformation for our customers."

Taiwan's IT manufacturing is world-class. Now, Delta, SYSCOM, and Taiwan High-Speed Rail are working together and each bringing their best. Delta is an investor in innovative R&D and sustainable business practices. SYSCOM has outstanding and innovative expertise and experience. Taiwan High-Speed Rail has transportation domain knowledge, transportation technology innovation, Taiwan spirit, and sustainable business practices. The new generation passenger information systems is being built while following the national policy to use domestic resources for domestic projects.
