SYSCOM Computer Engineering Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Grand Gala Reception on June 20
Fifty Years of Staying True to Its Founding Spirit, Building an Even Brighter Future
Taiwan's leading systems integrator SYSCOM Computer Engineering Co., Ltd. (TWSE: 2453) held its "SYSCOM 50th Anniversary Celebration Reception" on June 20 at the Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei. Government and industry association officials, corporate clients, business partners and members of the media gathered together to witness the deep expertise and innovative achievements SYSCOM has built over half a century.
The event opened with remarks from SYSCOM Chairman Raff Liu, and President Lai Ching-te sent a congratulatory message of blessing for the occasion. Chairman Liu thanked all sectors of society for their support and companionship over the years, saying: "For fifty years, SYSCOM has held firmly to the principles of integrity, professionalism and innovation. At every critical technological turning point we have moved forward steadily — deepening our roots in Taiwan while also looking toward the world. Going forward, we will continue to pursue excellence and grow sustainably together with our customers."
Guests including Minister of Digital Affairs Huang Yen-nan, Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Simon G. Chien, and Taipei Computer Association Secretary-General Du Chuan-chang delivered remarks at the event, affirming SYSCOM's pivotal contributions to Taiwan's information and communications technology industry. During the celebration, representatives from Japanese partner CIJ Inc. presented a "Daruma" doll — a symbol of celebration and blessing — and performed an eye-dotting ceremony, wishing SYSCOM continued success over the next fifty years. Amid guests' well wishes and lively networking, the reception created a warm and festive atmosphere.
Looking back over the past five decades, SYSCOM has actively participated in Taiwan's economic development, bearing witness to the nation's economic growth. In the 1970s, the company was the first to introduce the HPE NonStop system to Taiwan. In the 1980s, it took part in the computerization of Taiwan's stock exchange, the computerization of National Cheng Kung University Hospital, automation of the air cargo terminal at Taoyuan International Airport, and computerization of local financial institutions. In 1990, SYSCOM was actively involved in automating cargo and maritime customs clearance, the Ministry of Health and Welfare's national medical information network, the satellite ground control team at the National Space Organization, and automation of futures trading systems. After 2000, SYSCOM successively won contracts for the e-government "common operating platform construction and outsourced operations" project, the Taipei bus transfer station IT management system, and the construction of the national Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system. In recent years, it has further taken part in the planning and deployment of the High Speed Rail's next-generation passenger service system, the information display systems for Taiwan Railway's trains and stations nationwide, and the information and communications systems for Terminal 3 of Taoyuan International Airport.
With the advancement of AI technology, SYSCOM has invested in the design and development of the "Ayuda" intelligent service robot and has expanded into smart retail, helping Carrefour Taiwan implement its "Smart Recipe" system, which won the Grand Jury Award at the Innovative Business Awards. The company continues to invest in the development and application of AI tools, becoming a model for AI development. Today, SYSCOM's service portfolio spans financial institutions, smart transportation, network communications, digital government, smart retail, smart healthcare, smart manufacturing, cloud services and ESG, outsourcing services, and information security, among other fields.
